Some of the nicest features of Pages is the drag and drop and layering tools. In this blog entry we’re going to look at adding cool backgrounds to your Pages documents.

Step One: Find or create your background. A good place to start is the outstanding resource & info site BittBox www.bittbox.com

This is where I got the background from for this post.

bittbox

Now that you have your background open up a new Blank Page Layout document.

Opn page

With your page open open up Finder and locate your background image

locate

Drag the image in to the Pages documentr

DRAG

Then just resize till it fits the page

resize

You can use the lock and opacity tools to make the adjustments and to secure the background to the page.

How to hide Page elements from being printed.

Posted by: admin In: Blogola

Sometimes when we want to print a document we only want certain elements to be printed, such as text and no images or no borders etc.

One of the easiest ways to achieve this is to use the Opacity tool in the Pages Inspector.

opacity Print One

In the document you want to print without certain elements select the elements that you want to hide.

opacity Print two
In the inspector panel select the object button and then drag the Opacity slider to 0%

opacity Print three

Then you can print.

The objects are still on the page but wont show on the print. To reinstate them
you just slide the Opacity back to 100%

Pages has a lot of tools to make life easier when it comes to creating your documents. One of the must use features is the Fonts Panel.

This little window has a lot of power hidden in it that I will hopefully explore in the article.

Starting at the beginning:

The Fonts Panel in Pages is a floating window just like the inspector.

Fonts Panel

To open / access the Fonts Panel click the fonts “A” Icon on the top right of the Pages menu bar

Fonts Button

Once open you can now access some really helpful features:

1) Font previews - One of the most useful features of the fonts panel is that you can now preview a font before you add it to your document. To open up the font preview click the “cog” button at the bottom left of the Panel & select Show Preview:

2) Quick text effects one - Adding and adjusting text shadow / colour / strikethroughs / underlines & document colour.

Font Panel Buttons

Button One: Underline - Four options here - pretty self explanatory - Underline your text with 1, 2 or / & coloured lines

Underline

Button Two: Strikethroughs - Same as the Underline tool with regards the options.

Button Three - Font Colour Chooser - The third icon launches the colour chooser
